The county government of Trans Nzoia has outlined a host of measures to prevent the spread of the contagious Corona Virus pandemic which has so far seen three people confirmed to be affected in the country.
Governor Patrick Khaemba said two special isolation rooms have been set aside at the Kitale county referral hospital and the Kaisgat health centers respectively to accommodate Corona patients in the event of such cases.
“We are in the process of acquiring Sh 10 million medical supplies related to the control and treatment of the virus. They will be single sourced since this is a case of emergency,” Governor Khaemba told journalists.
The governor who chaired an emergency team which has security officials on board also advised locals to adhere to stipulated protective health measures among them avoiding crowded places, shunning handshakes and sanitizing their hands.
“Night clubs are hereby suspended. We advise locals to limit gatherings like socials events, funerals, and church vigils to reduce travels to reduce the chances of coming in to contact with the virus,” he said.
The county government has in the meantime set aside one ambulance to handle suspected cases of the Corona virus with those with related symptoms being urged to raise the alarm using 0759454347 and 0734396344 hotlines.
Saboti Deputy Sub County Abdi Khalifa warned of stern punitive measures against social media users in the region against the spread of falsehood on various platforms saying they are unnecessarily causing confusion and panic among residents.
