Samburu County on Coronavirus

Following the confirmation of 3 cases of COVID-19 in Kenya, Samburu County Government yeasterday held its briefing meeting on COVID-19 preparedness.

The meeting was chaired by the Deputy Governor H.E Julius Leseeto, and deliberated on a number of interventions to prevent COVID-19 in Samburu county.

The health department has since undertaken both preventive and control measures to ensure the safety of the members of public in Samburu county.

Samburu county has recorded no case so far.

The County Health officials therefore said that there is absolutely no need to panic.

Isolation wards have been identified and designated both at the County Referral Hospital, Catholic Hospital Wamba and Baragoi Sub County Hospitals.

According to the Deputy Governor, the County has made arrangements for gears and equipment for use by the medical staff in the isolation unit.

Hand sanitizers, face masks, hand pumps for spraying surfaces, gumboots overalls have also been sourced both from KEMSA and the MOH.

The Deputy Governor also revealed that the County has embarked on massive sensitization through all channels including local radio stations, community health volunteers, health workers in the outpatient departments.

To ensure that high-level hygiene standards are maintained, the county administration will be providing water in all county health facilities through water bowsers.

All PSV vehicles operating in the County are expected to observe preventive measures by having sanitizers for all their passengers.

The County administration calls upon the members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspected coronavirus cases to the relevant authorities.

In attendance were Samburu Central Deputy County Commissioner, MCAs, Acting County Secretary Bosco Ole Sambu, CEC Member for Health Stephen Lekupe, CO Health Sam Nakope among others.
