Police in Bomet are investigating a case where a middle-aged man was last night mauled by suspected cannibals next to ‘Prophet’ Owuor’s church.
The victim was found lying unconscious with some parts of his body bitten off.
He was rushed to Tenwek Hospital for treatment, with a chunk of flesh mauled from his chin, leg, and one ear missing.
Residents say this is the third person to fall to this same mysterious fate at the same site
In September last year, a middle-aged man was found unconscious with an ear chopped off and his left hand broken at the same place.
The man was found next to the Repentance and Holiness Church, the same spot where a third victim was found murdered the previous day.
The lifeless body of the 35-year-old had the left ear chopped off while his eye was gouged out. The body lay in an open field next to a Kenya Breweries depot a few meters from Kings Outreach Church.
The body also had a deep cut on the thigh.
Confirming the incident, Bomet Central sub-county police commander Musa Omari said they were yet to establish the motive of the attacks.
“The victims’ bodies have no injuries from blunt or sharp objects. We are therefore seeking to establish the motive behind these worrying incidents,” Omari said.
According to locals, the three separate cult-like murders have exhibited a similar worrying trend, a mystery they are worried about.
“We don’t know who these man-eaters are. And why are they always appearing next to Owuor’s church?” says Ben Kiprotich a resident of Bomet town.
“Not everyone you see is human. We only share features. Humans act according to ideas in mind negative or positive. Therefore these vampires’ bloodlines are real. Hidden in cultism pretending to be sacred. They are cannibals and ritualists,” says Kibet.
