In the wake of an increasing number of COVID-19 cases, Meru Health Minister Misheck Mutuma says the County is ready to handle any arising case.
According to Mr. Mutuma, the Meru Teaching and Referral hospital has set up a 20-bed capacity Corona Virus isolation ward.
Mutuma says that the medical staff in the facility have undergone adequate training and are now ready for any eventuality.
A few weeks ago, the Ministry of Health embarked on training 200 health workers to step up preparedness against the coronavirus outbreak.
The Ministry of Health in collaboration with the Center for Disease Control and Washington State University embarked on serious training for doctors, nurses, clinical officers, and public health officers among others.
Medical officers from various counties had representatives in the national and regional training sessions.
All county referral hospitals remain on high alert after two more cases of coronavirus infection were confirmed and reported by President Uhuru Kenyatta on Sunday afternoon.
According to Reuters, the latest total number of infections globally stands at 156,465, with 5,838 confirmed deaths since the outbreak started in Wuhan, China in December last year.
