Kirinyaga Women Representative Hon. Wangui Ngirici has urged the youthful population to make good use of every funding opportunity to grow their businesses and become self-reliant.
Speaking during an interactive webinar this afternoon, Ngirici said that the youth have a wonderful opportunity to tap from the many available funding opportunities.
“With the NGAAF fund, we have managed to empower more than 100 youth groups within Kirinyaga County. We also sponsored 148 University students and more than 300 High school students,” says the Kirinyaga legislator.
Several youths used the webinar to express themselves on matters empowerment and governance in the County.
“Is it possible to effectively have empowerment groups and an office in every constituency? What if we get a day purposely to listen to a group and individual ideas and talents?” says Murithi Murithi.
“Kirinyaga stadium was of great help to the youths. I was there last weekend and it has turned out to be a bhang smoking zone. Please activate whoever is responsible. I know you are capable. I like your way of doing things,” says Moses Mwongera.
Concerning the worrying teenage pregnancies, Ngirici says there is a need to revise the approaches employed in educating the youth.
“Now that the students will stay at home longer, we have to intensify our engagements with the youth on early pregnancies, drug abuse, menstrual hygiene. In doing this, we have to widen our reach to primary school children in the most interior parts,” she says.
According to Ngirici, no girl should abandon her studies because she got pregnant.
