The County Government of Kakamega is getting ready to purchase spray guns and chemicals for Matatu Saccos for fumigation of all Public Service Vehicles within the County.
Speaking at the County headquarters today, Governor Wycliffe Oparanya says that the fumigation exercise will be supervised by public health officers.
The exercise will specifically target market centers, bus stops, and Bodaboda shades.
The Governor however says that all open-air markets in the County remain closed.
Operations at the markets and modern kiosks to continue on condition that those involved observe social distance and hygiene.
Oparanya says that in efforts to prevent the spread of the virus, hawking of merchandise in the county is banned with immediate effect.
Governor Oparanya was speaking at a presser attended by among others the County Commissioner, Pauline Dola, CECM for Health Services, Rachel Okumu, and County Police Commander Bernard Muli.
