The County Government of Kajiado has set up two coronavirus isolation facilities,
The two isolation facilities are based at the Ole Kasasi Health Centre in Ongata Rongai and Kajiado Referral Hospital.
Speaking during an inspection of the facilities, Kajiado Governor Joseph Ole Lenku said that the county is now ready to combat any emerging case of the contagious coronavirus.
The Governor was accompanied by the Ministry of Health officials tasked with reviewing the county’s preparedness regarding the pandemic.
According to Governor Lenku, an emergency unit has been set up in the Department of Health and several medics adequately trained to handle any emerging case of the virus.
“I call upon Kajiado residents not to panic as both the County Government and the Ministry of Health are working very closely to ensure we have adequate preventive measures,” said Governor Lenku.
Kajiado County recorded the first confirmed coronavirus case last week, a 27-year-old Kenyan woman who lives in Ongata Rongai.
The patient who arrived from the U.S. on March 5 spent some time in at her Ongata Rongai home before she was hospitalized.
Last weekend was a busy one for health officials who spent hours fumigating several homes in Ongata Rongai, while at the same time tracing and isolating persons who came into contact with the patient.
