Following 2 new cases of the novel Coronavirus in the country, Kiambu Governor James Nyoro has made impromptu visits to both Kiambu and Thika level 5 hospitals.
The visits were meant to ensure the preparedness of Kiambu County in handling any cases of the virus.
The two hospitals are well equipped with test kits and fully-fledged medical quarantine facilities.
On Sunday afternoon, President Uhuru Kenyatta confirmed two more cases of the coronavirus in Kenya, bringing the total number of cases to three.
To combat the virus, the President also ordered the closure of schools and institutions of higher learning in the coming week and urged Kenyans to opt to work from home.
In its briefing on Saturday, the Health Ministry said 22 persons who were in close contact with the first confirmed case were already quarantined.
Samples were collected from them and tests conducted at laboratories at the Kenya Medical Research Institute (Kemri).
It is believed that out of these 22 persons, only two have tested positive for the virus.
The other persons will, however, remain quarantined and under observation for a good number of days.
Several county bosses have come out to assure members of the public that their respective county medical facilities are ready incase of any reported case in the counties.
